Arrange the cards face down and take turns revealing two at a time. Unlike a traditional memory game, the matching cards are not identical. Players must pair one Captain Card with its corresponding Ship Card by carefully comparing visual details. A captain wearing a red-and-white striped shirt and triangular hat, for example, may belong with a ship featuring a matching striped sail and triangular hull.
This playful twist encourages children to look beyond identical pictures and notice relationships between different images. As they search for pairs, players practise concentration, visual memory, pattern recognition, comparative thinking and careful observation.
Beautifully illustrated by Beatrix Bohony, Ships and Captains features warm, storybook artwork and Marbushka’s signature attention to detail. The compact, plastic-free game contains 20 thick cardboard cards, creating 10 unique Captain and Ship pairs, together with a multilingual rulebook. Made from sustainable natural cardboard, it is easy to store, carry and enjoy wherever your next voyage takes you. A thoughtful gift for little ocean explorers.
